Beesley & Fildes

The Client

Established in 1820, Beesley & Fildes is an independent builders’​ merchant based in the North West of England. It has taken nearly two hundred years to turn the once small firm into the large enterprise that it is today. With specialist timber and timber engineering divisions, they are now trading from 11 branches around the North West.

The Beesley & Fildes team tasked Pixus with creating a new E-commerce website linked with Bistrack Epicor ERP stock control system and a range of custom features.

The Solution

With mobile visitors forming the largest percentage of their traffic, it was vital that mobile usability and speed was at the centre of the new website. Data migration was also a key consideration during the project. With a site serving over 35,000 SKU’s and 50,000 images, re-sizing images required both automated re-sizing and compression using Amazon Cloud & Lamba, along with manual image replacement.

Complex postage modules were utilised from the old site, allowing shipping rules to restrict which products are shipped locally or nationally.  Further integration was also required for the branch finder, and so the website was hooked up to the latest Google API in order to help users find the nearest branch to their current location.
